Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, evaluate, and prepare Basis of Design (BOD), Scope of Work (SOW), design, construction, and specification documents for facility mechanical systems.
- Support projects of varying size and complexity by assessing systems, consulting system owners, and analyzing stakeholder scope requests.
- Design and oversee facility mechanical systems including HVAC, process cooling water, wastewater, process piping, plumbing, fire protection, and exhaust systems.
- Develop construction documents for installation of manufacturing tools and facility infrastructure mechanical systems.
- Perform engineering calculations, equipment sizing, component selection, and specification development.
- Conduct code assessments, code interpretation, and HAZOP reviews.
- Support retrofit projects for existing building systems as well as new system installations.
- Review vendor submittal packages against client requirements and specifications.
- Collaborate with client personnel, contractors, system owners, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Interpret P&IDs, layout drawings, equipment plans, and design details.
- Lead stakeholder meetings to evaluate design options while considering cost, schedule, and scope.
- Provide engineering support during construction and system integration.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- Minimum 10 years of practical mechanical facilities design engineering experience, including HVAC, hydronics, process piping, exhaust, plumbing, and related mechanical systems.
- Minimum 5 years of design project delivery experience.
- Strong knowledge of ASME, ASME B31.3, building codes, fire codes, ASHRAE, and related standards.
- Experience specifying and selecting mechanical equipment and components.
- Experience reviewing vendor submittal packages.
- Field experience working with subcontractors and construction personnel.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- EIT or Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- 5 years of experience as a Facility Engineer.
- Working knowledge of P&IDs, PFDs, equipment plans, details, and related design deliverables.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, or BIM360.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Forward-thinking mindset with a willingness to learn and contribute innovative ideas.
- Passion for buildings and construction.
Additional Requirements
- Onsite role in Wilton, CT; relocation assistance available.
- Must be able to work onsite Monday–Friday during normal business hours.
- Must be able to perform field visits, including walking long distances, standing, bending, climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, and lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs.
- Must successfully complete a background check and drug screen.
- Must be fully authorized to work for any client in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available.
