What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recovery Administrator position at APG Federal Credit Union?

Summary

Under the direction of the Recovery Manager, perform a variety of duties relating to the administration of foreclosed real estate, bankruptcies, estates, repossessions, collateral claims, and the collection of charged-off loans. Duties involve coordinating with attorneys and working with third-party vendors on repossessions and liquidations. Recovery activity may also include skip tracing to locate members by utilizing available collection tools, contacting charged-off members, encouraging re-payment, documenting collection activity, processing repossessed property, and maintaining applicable records and reports. The collection process is conducted in accordance with credit union policy, bankruptcy code, legal regulations, and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and governing state laws.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Repossession: Responsible for sending and maintaining record of all certified mail sent through the lifecycle of a repossession. Process new repossession notifications, redemptions and the legal placement of deficiency balances. Process collateral protection insurance for skip, damage, and premium deficiency refunds.

Total Loss: Process total loss deficiency balances to include sending notification to the member and legal placement when applicable.

Bankruptcy: Process all new Bankruptcy notifications received via email, fax and regular mail. Make the appropriate system updates in all systems to ensure that BK account is handled in compliance with all BK laws. Gather documentation and assign Chapter 13 cases needing a proof of claim to the CU Attorney. Respond accordingly to all Attorney emails received in reference to opening or closing a placement due to BK status.

Estate Accounts: Process all new Deceased member notifications received. Submit transfer requests per CU deceased policy. Attorney notification when necessary.

Legal: Process all new legal placements for collections, replevin action and foreclosure. Process all Attorney closure notifications received. Respond to document requests. Sign and mail all verified complaints. Maintain the list of CU approved Attorneys, assist with the onboarding of new Attorney’s.

Training: Assist in the training of employees within the department if requested by the Member Solutions Management team.

Other Responsibilities: Assist with branch and internal member account inquiries. Finalize all settlements, send appropriate letters and maintain the log for end of year tax reporting. Initiate the monthly Returned check report.

ADDITIONAL: Responsible for completion of applicable training and compliance on federal regulations and APGFCU policies and procedures as related to the duties of this position (Bank Secrecy Act, Information Security as examples, if applicable).

Qualifications

Education: Equivalent to high school diploma plus additional specialized training in credit and collection practices, and regulations equal to two years of technical college. Experience can be credited in lieu of education.

Experience: Minimum 3 years experience including, credit and collections practices with knowledge and understanding of profit and loss recovery.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Good verbal communications, interpersonal skills, analytical ability, organizational skills, skip tracing Excel, Word or other similar applications.

Compensation information: Offers are based on experience and education.

$20.83 - 26.04 per hour
