The Role

Apeximmune is seeking a talented and motivated Scientist with a strong background in cellular and molecular immunology and cancer biology to join our therapeutic antibody discovery team. This position will lead bi-specific antibody projects towards clinical candidate development.

This is a high-impact role in which, you will be responsible for all aspects of the project including strategic design, daily bench-level execution, direct supervision and mentorship to Scientific Research Associates (SRAs). Your work and leadership will be a key component of Apeximmune’s strategic goals.


Key Responsibilities

  • Independently lead bispecific antibody projects, including strategic planning and defining the path toward therapeutic products.
  • Lead from the bench by developing and optimizing binding and cell-based functional assays for hybridoma screening.
  • Supervise, train, and manage SRAs to ensure high-quality data generation and professional growth within the team.
  • Run complex experiments, perform rigorous troubleshooting, and analyze results to identify and characterize lead candidates.
  • Execute and manage contract research organization (CRO) conducting hybridoma generation campaigns
  • Manage in vivo preclinical studies and provide hands-on support to SRA and/or technicians as needed to ensure successful outcome.
  • Apply advanced analytical skills to overcome technical hurdles and optimize protocols for lead candidate identification.
  • Actively collaborate within the team, contributing to other ongoing projects and sharing your expertise to foster a learning environment.
  • Participate in and present data at internal meetings, ensuring clear documentation of all findings.
  • Keep up-to-date with current scientific literature to help identify new targets or new strategies for existing targets.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in immunology, cell biology, oncology, or a related scientific field with 3 years of postdoctoral or equivalent industry experience.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with basic tissue culture of mammalian cell lines and primary cells.
  • Proven expertise in the development and troubleshooting of cell-based functional in vitro immunoassays (e.g. ELISA, MSA).
  • Proficiency in the isolation and characterization of human and mouse primary immune cells.
  • Mastery of multi-color flow cytometry is a must, alongside a deep knowledge of FACS-based phenotypic and functional characterization of immune cell populations.
  • Experience in syngeneic and/or transgenic mouse tumor/autoimmune models is highly desirable
  • Proficiency with data analysis software including GraphPad Prism and Excel.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, organization, and presentation skills.
  • Strong critical thinking, excellent problem-solving, and meticulous documentation skills.
  • Flexibility and enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced, innovative startup environment.
