Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Network Engineer to support the design, testing, and implementation of product solutions within public and private Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC) environments. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in network engineering and demonstrate proficiency in cloud infrastructure, virtualization, and containerization. This role requires the ability to work independently in a lab setting, contribute across multiple technical domains, and develop automated software solutions to optimize MEC resource utilization. Familiarity with the OpenShift ecosystem is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:
Network Engineering & Infrastructure Support
- Collaborate directly with lab leadership to evaluate third-party software and hardware.
- Perform rack-and-stack duties, including cabling and equipment setup.
- Configure and troubleshoot Cisco Nexus switches, routers, and Palo Alto firewalls.
- Maintain and enhance lab infrastructure through continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop and deploy product solutions for public and private MEC environments.
- Architect systems with a focus on redundancy, resource optimization, and OpenShift integration.
- Create automated software solutions for MEC configuration, system updates, and monitoring.
- Automate configuration processes, system updates, and monitoring protocols.
- Implement active and passive health monitoring and provide data-driven troubleshooting recommendations.
- Partner with internal teams to deliver robust MEC solutions.
- Monitor system health, analyze software updates, and provide actionable insights for improvement.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of lab projects and activities.
- Manage scripts and configurations in an on-premises Git repository.
- Update and maintain IP address management systems (e.g., NetBox).
- Physically install and connect servers, switches, and cables within standard server racks to ensure efficient and organized infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of network infrastructure and optimization.
- Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Solid Linux administration and networking skills.
- Experience with cloud technologies and virtualization platforms (Red Hat, OpenShift, OpenStack, Kubernetes; VMware is a plus).
- Hands-on experience with on-premises environments such as Kubernetes, Docker/containers, or KVM (e.g., Proxmox, XCP-ng).
- Exposure to data science, machine learning, or artificial intelligence is advantageous.
- Ability to analyze data for process optimization.
- Willingness to engage in physical datacenter activities as required.
- Creative and solution-oriented mindset with a passion for technology.
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) certification is a plus, but not required.
