Role: HR Consultant

Supporting: Large Financial Services Client

Location: San Antonio, TX (Hybrid – onsite required initially for training, then hybrid schedule)

Assignment Type: Contract Only

Duration: ~6 Months

Role Overview:

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR professional with a strong background in pension administration to take ownership of international retirement programs. In this role, you’ll play a critical part in managing and ensuring compliance for pension plans while partnering with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer daily operations of pension plans, including defined benefit and defined contribution programs
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for pension-related inquiries (eligibility, calculations, retirement process)
  • Partner with internal teams and external vendors (administrators, actuaries, auditors, legal counsel) to ensure compliance and accuracy
  • Review and reconcile pension data, payroll records, contribution files, and actuarial reports
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements including ERISA, IRS, and DOL guidelines
  • Support audits, valuations, compliance testing, and required filings (e.g., Form 5500)
  • Maintain and update pension documentation, policies, and communications
  • Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency and employee understanding
  • Manage vendor relationships, invoicing, and contract renewals
  • Digitize and organize pension records to maintain a structured electronic filing system
  • Contribute to broader HR initiatives through cross-training in benefits, recruiting, and related areas

Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of experience in pension administration and Human Resources
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and HRIS systems
  • Solid understanding of U.S. retirement plans and compliance requirements
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to support both internal and external stakeholders
  • High attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive data with confidentiality

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
  • Knowledge of ERISA, IRS regulations, and retirement plan compliance
  • Experience with international pension plans
  • Background working with actuaries, auditors, and third-party administrators
  • Experience in financial reporting or audit coordination

Compensation and Benefits: The pay rate for this position is between $27.00 and $48.00 per hour. Please note that the final rate may be contingent on experience and other factors.
