The Project Manager leads project teams and manages project scope, fee and budget, schedule, staffing, technical execution, coordination, client communication, and overall project performance from project initiation through construction.

Project Managers balance technical leadership with project management responsibilities and serve as the primary day-to-day point of contact for clients and project stakeholders. They are expected to anticipate project needs, identify potential issues, effectively direct project resources, and communicate with the Project Executive when significant technical, contractual, financial, schedule, or client-related issues arise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage structural engineering projects from initiation through design, permitting, and construction, ensuring successful delivery under the oversight of the Project Executive.
  • Oversee project scope, budgets, schedules, staffing, and deliverables while monitoring financial performance and managing changes to contractual requirements.
  • Lead and coordinate project teams, including Project Engineers and BIM/modeling staff, by assigning responsibilities, establishing priorities, and ensuring efficient project execution.
  • Provide technical leadership in structural analysis, design, modeling, and constructability while ensuring compliance with engineering standards and project requirements.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, contractors, fabricators, and consultants, maintaining strong relationships and facilitating effective multidisciplinary coordination.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks related to technical challenges, staffing, schedules, budgets, and scope changes while keeping the Project Executive informed of key developments.
  • Oversee quality assurance, quality control, and construction-phase services, including design reviews, RFIs, submittals, field conditions, and engineering revisions.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineering and project management staff while supporting business development, technical standards, and continuous improvement of Apex's engineering and project delivery processes.
  • Lead structural coordination with architects, MEP/FP consultants, contractors, fabricators, and other project participants and facilitate resolution of multidisciplinary coordination issues.
  • Review architectural, MEP/FP, and other discipline documents to understand project requirements, identify structural impacts and coordination issues, and ensure those items are addressed by the project team.
  • Support continuous improvement of Apex's project management, engineering, QA/QC, and project delivery processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Architectural Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering preferred.
  • Typically seven or more years of relevant structural engineering experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) and/or Structural Engineer (SE) licensure required.
  • Demonstrated experience managing structural engineering projects and multidisciplinary project teams.
