Mechatronics & Heavy Equipment Technician

Position Overview
Apex Stone is seeking a versatile Mechatronics & Heavy Equipment Technician for our production facility. This unique role bridges the gap between heavy mechanical fleet maintenance and advanced plant automation. We operate a tight-knit, supportive shop where culture and attitude are just as important as technical skill. We need a resourceful self-starter who can handle high-tech automation and dirty, heavy mechanical work with equal humility.
Key Responsibilities

Fleet Maintenance: Perform routine PMs, diagnostics, and repairs (mechanical, hydraulic, diesel) on forklifts, wheel loaders, and skid steers to minimize yard downtime.

Industrial Automation: Troubleshoot and repair CNC/bridge/veneer saws, PLCs, I/O devices, sensors, VFDs, 3-phase electrical wiring, and water filtration systems.

Resourceful Problem-Solving: Utilize logic and blueprints to figure out complex European machinery with limited factory support.

Documentation & Safety: Document troubleshooting steps to help "build the bible" of internal SOPs. Maintain a safe, hazard-free shop environment.
Qualifications & Requirements

Education/Experience: Degree/certificate in Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, Electro-Mechanical Technology, or 2–5 years of equivalent hands-on experience.

Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude (heavy equipment, hydraulics, diesel) and electrical foundation (reading complex schematics/IEC standards).

Environment: Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly. Must thrive in a rugged, non-climate-controlled, gritty stone fabrication yard (dust, slurry, water recycling).

Traits: Valid driver's license. Non-negotiable team-first mindset, adaptability, and a solutions-oriented attitude.
