Position Overview

As a Deli Associate, you'll play an important role in creating a great customer experience.

You'll prepare and serve fresh deli sandwiches, sides, and other menu items while keeping your station stocked, clean, organized, and ready for customers. You'll interact with customers throughout the day, provide friendly and efficient service, and work closely with your teammates to keep the café running smoothly.

This is a hands-on position where you'll have the opportunity to make a difference every day—one customer and one great meal at a time.

What You'll Do

Create a Great Customer Experience

• Greet customers with a friendly and positive attitude
• Prepare and serve deli sandwiches, sides, and other menu items according to recipes and presentation standards
• Provide fast, accurate, and courteous service
• Engage with customers in a friendly and respectful manner
• Answer questions about menu items and ingredients when needed
• Pay attention to customer requests and make sure orders are prepared correctly
• Help create a welcoming deli experience that keeps customers coming back

Keep the Deli Fresh & Ready

• Set up and maintain a fully stocked and visually appealing deli station
• Keep meats, cheeses, breads, toppings, condiments, and other ingredients fresh and properly displayed
• Monitor food freshness and product levels throughout the day
• Restock products as needed to keep the station ready for service
• Rotate products properly and minimize food waste
• Maintain attractive and consistent food presentation

Keep Things Safe & Clean

Food safety and cleanliness are an important part of the APEX experience.

• Follow all applicable local, state, and federal food safety requirements
• Follow APEX food handling procedures and departmental SOPs
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
• Practice “clean as you go” throughout the shift
• Properly handle, store, label, and date food products
• Complete assigned cleaning and sanitation tasks
• Assist with dishwashing, sweeping, mopping, and end-of-day breakdowns
• Report food safety, equipment, or cleanliness concerns to leadership

Support Your Team

• Work closely with teammates to keep daily café operations running smoothly
• Assist with daily food preparation as needed
• Help prepare and organize catering orders
• Cross-train and assist at other stations when needed
• Jump in and help wherever you're needed during busy periods
• Participate in team huddles and communicate effectively with leadership
• Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a strong team environment

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

This is an active, hands-on position in a busy café and food service environment.

  • Ability to lift and carry food, supplies, and equipment as needed
  • Comfortable working around commercial kitchen equipment and varying temperatures
  • Ability to safely perform repetitive tasks such as food preparation, serving, stocking, and cleaning
  • Ability to maintain a steady pace during busy meal periods
  • Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of the position
