Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for our Podiatry office. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of medical administrative procedures, and proficiency in managing electronic health records (EHR) systems. As a Medical Receptionist, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient service, managing appointments, and supporting clinical staff with administrative tasks to ensure smooth daily operations.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, ensuring a positive first impression while verifying patient information and updating medical records.
- Schedule appointments efficiently using our EMR system.
- Manage incoming phone calls with courteous phone etiquette, directing inquiries appropriately and handling appointment rescheduling or cancellations.
- Process medical billing and collections accurately, including insurance verification and understanding of health insurance policies.
- Maintain organized medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Assist with documentation review, ensuring accuracy in clinical notes, care plans, CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and other medical documentation.
- Support administrative functions such as filing, data entry, multi-line phone system management, and basic clerical duties using Microsoft Office tools.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate patient intake processes and ensure timely flow of information within the office environment.
Requirements
- Prior experience working in a medical office or clinic setting is highly preferred, especially within dental or outpatient clinics.
- Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems; familiarity with electronic health records management is essential.
- Proficiency in medical billing, coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and understanding of health insurance processes including Medicare is required.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse patient populations; bilingual abilities are a plus.
- Collect copays, deductible deposits and outstanding patient balances while being able to provide explanations in a professional manner.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies to safeguard patient information at all times.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with health information management software.
- Ability to handle high-volume patient interactions efficiently while maintaining professionalism and attention to detail.
- The opening and closing of the office for daily operations.

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
