Job Description
As the Long-Term Care Pharmacy Purchaser, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the consistent availability of medications and medical supplies for our patients and healthcare professionals. Your expertise in procurement and vendor management will directly impact our ability to provide high-quality pharmaceutical services to our long-term care facilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and internal teams to understand medication and medical supply needs.
- Research and identify reliable suppliers, negotiate pricing, and establish favorable terms to maximize cost efficiency.
- Monitor inventory levels and initiate timely orders to prevent shortages while minimizing excess inventory.
- Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, invoices, and purchase orders.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors.
- Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes that may impact purchasing decisions.
- Work closely with pharmacy staff to align procurement with patient care goals.
- Participate in the development of procurement strategies to improve overall efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Conduct regular evaluations of supplier performance, addressing any issues that may arise.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field (preferred).
- Proven experience in pharmaceutical or healthcare purchasing, especially within a long-term care or assisted living setting.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable terms and pricing from suppliers.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with internal teams and external partners.
- Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Familiarity with pharmacy inventory management software and procurement tools.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance related to pharmaceutical procurement.
