What are the responsibilities and job description for the Magical Mornings Assistant Teacher position at Apex Park and Recreation District?
The Assistant Magical Mornings Teacher will help assist the Teacher in guiding children through activities in the classroom with kindness care and support and be able to assist comforting children and making them feel welcome.
This person is qualified to support Apex Park and Recreation District with Early Childhood Education for children ages 2-4. This person possesses a deep understanding of child development, imagination, and energy and enjoys developing large motor movements for this age group. Will assist with early childhood education and socialization skills. Primary responsibilities include performing a variety of childcare-related tasks.
Hours: 10-15 hours per week; schedule varies Monday through Friday
Must be 18 years old.
Ability to plan and develop activities that are fun and educational
Manage classroom activities, including crafts and play.
Proficient in active listening skills to understand and adapt to the various needs of children and parents
Ability to work independently and be self-motivated (often in the field), as well as the ability to work as a team in a co-teaching model
Organizational skills
Ability to instruct young children in rules and learning new tasks
Ability to select the appropriate teaching method and adapt to children’s learning styles
Patience and compassion are suitable for working with young children.
- Set up classrooms and cleaning duties after class
Travels the district to various locations.
Helps to provide a safe and creative learning environment
Must have experience working with children ages 2-4.
Recommended First Aid and CPR certifications must be obtained once hired
Must demonstrate a strong interest in and knowledge of youth.
Must be organized and able to work in a group and lead by example.
Must have three references.
The noise level in the environment is moderate to loud.
Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including summer sun and temperatures.
Work will be performed in both indoor and outdoor environments.
Occasional travel by automobile is required to reach a recreation activity site away from the Recreation Center.
- Ability to lift children for comfort or care.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

Salary : $17 - $20
