What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cart Crew position at Apex Park and Recreation District?
The Golf Cart Crew Employee supports daily golf course operations by preparing, staging, cleaning, and maintaining the golf cart fleet and related outside service areas. This position provides friendly, safe, and efficient service to golfers and guests while helping maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming public golf course environment.
- Stage clean, charged golf carts for daily play, leagues, outings, tournaments, and other scheduled golf activities.
- Clean, sanitize, inspect, and restock golf carts after each use, including removing trash, wiping surfaces, checking sand bottles, scorecards, pencils, towels, and other guest supplies as applicable.
- Assist golfers and guests in a courteous manner, including helping with golf bags, answering basic questions, providing directions, and referring concerns to golf shop or supervisory staff.
- Safely operate golf carts, range pickers, utility vehicles, and related equipment in accordance with district policies, course rules, and safety procedures.
- Monitor the golf cart fleet for visible damage, mechanical concerns, charging issues, or unsafe conditions and promptly report issues to the supervisor or appropriate staff.
- Maintain the cart barn, staging area, wash station, practice areas, and surrounding public areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
- Support driving range operations by collecting, washing, and restocking range balls; maintaining baskets; and helping keep the range and practice areas clean and orderly.
- Assist with opening, closing, and end-of-day procedures, including returning carts to storage, plugging carts into chargers, securing equipment, and preparing areas for the next day.
- Assist with tournament, league, and special event setup and breakdown as directed.
- Follow all district policies, safety procedures, customer service standards, and cash-handling or inventory procedures if assigned.
- Must be at least 15 years old.
- Valid driver’s license preferred.
- Previous golf course, recreation, hospitality, maintenance, or customer service experience preferred, but not required.
- Ability to provide friendly, respectful, and professional service to golfers, guests, co-workers, and the public.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions, course rules, safety procedures, and district policies.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, public-facing environment.
- Basic knowledge of golf course operations and etiquette preferred; willingness to learn is required.
- Ability to safely operate golf carts, range equipment, cleaning equipment, and basic hand tools after training.
- Ability to maintain attention to detail when cleaning, inspecting, stocking, and organizing equipment and work areas.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and seasonal shifts based on golf course operations.
Work may take place in both indoor and outdoor environments, with exposure to varying weather conditions including sun, heat, cold, snow, and humidity.
