What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Billing Specialist - Insurance Follow Up position at Apex Paramedics?
We are looking for a thinker and problem solver who takes ownership, follows through, and gets things done. Join our Follow-Up Team to help move insurance claims efficiently and reduce aging accounts.
ResponsibilitiesWhat You’ll Do:
- Perform insurance follow-up on aging claims
- Review and work accounts receivable to prevent delays
- Access and navigate insurance portals for claim status updates
- Contact insurance carriers to resolve denials, delays, and underpayments
- Submit corrected claims or additional documentation requested as needed
- Document account activity accurately and thoroughly
- Identify trends in denials and report issues proactively
What We’re Looking For:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- At least 1 year of medical billing experience (ambulance billing a plus)
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset
- Attention to detail and ability to follow through
- Comfortable working with insurance portals and claims
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred but not reqired:
- Ambulance/EMS billing experience
- Medical Billing or Coding Certification
