What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estimator position at Apex Millwork Inc?
We are looking for an experienced Millwork Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial millwork, architectural woodworking, and custom casework. This position is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, reviewing project documents, and working closely with Project Managers, Engineering, Purchasing, and Production.
Key Responsibilities
Review architectural drawings, shop drawings, and project specifications.
Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for materials and labor.
Prepare accurate and competitive project estimates and proposals.
Analyze project scope and identify potential risks or missing information.
Request and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations.
Prepare preliminary Bills of Materials
Review RFIs, addenda, and project revisions before submitting estimates.
Maintain and update material, labor, and subcontractor cost databases.
Coordinate with Engineering, Purchasing, Project Management, and Production to ensure accurate project pricing.
Meet estimating deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Qualifications
3 years of experience as a Millwork Estimator or Architectural Woodwork Estimator.
Experience estimating commercial Millwork custom cabinetry retail fixtures restaurant store Displays, or commercial casework
Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, shop drawings, and project specifications.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Preferred Skills
Knowledge of millwork manufacturing processes.
Understanding of CNC machining, laminating, veneering, finishing, and assembly.
Experience working directly with production and engineering teams.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
