Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Marine Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Florida. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and servicing marine diesel engines and related vessel systems. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced marine environment.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain marine diesel engines and propulsion systems.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, and system inspections.
  • Troubleshoot fuel, cooling, electrical, hydraulic, steering, and exhaust systems.
  • Inspect vessels and identify mechanical issues requiring repair or replacement.
  • Install, remove, and overhaul marine engines and related equipment.
  • Conduct sea trials and operational testing following repairs.
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic reports.
  • Maintain accurate service records and repair documentation.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Communicate repair recommendations and maintenance requirements to customers and management.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Marine Diesel Mechanic or Marine Technician.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, marine propulsion systems, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
  • Experience with engine manufacturers such as Cummins, Caterpillar, Detroit Diesel, Volvo Penta, MAN, MTU, or Yanmar preferred.
  • Ability to use diagnostic software and testing equipment.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in confined spaces, onboard vessels, and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Marine industry certifications are a plus.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
