Certified Medical Assistant – Interventional Pain Clinic (Part Time)
Location: 498 Essex STE 102 Bangor, ME 04401
Schedule: Part Time- Schedule varies. Daily for training, Mon- Friday, 1st shift hours.
Setting: Ambulatory outpatient clinic

Compensation: The starting rate for this position is $20/hr. The rate of pay displayed reflects the beginning of the pay scale. The successful candidate will be hired at a level commensurate with experience.

Apex Interventional Pain Specialists is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Certified Medical Assistant to join our dedicated clinical team. This role focuses on both clinical and administrative/ coordination duties within our interventional pain clinic, supporting operational excellence and exceptional patient care.

You’ll work in a collaborative, ambulatory setting where career growth is encouraged. Your contributions will directly impact patient satisfaction and clinical outcomes that exceed industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate all administrative operations for pain procedures and surgeries performed at outpatient and partner facilities including prior authorization and scheduling
  • Triage and organize new patient referrals (medical information, imaging and prior surgical and procedure details) and coordinate clinic schedules
  • Manage daily clinic workflow to ensure a seamless patient experience
  • Respond to patient inquiries in person and over the phone in a timely and friendly manner
  • Address and resolve patient concerns with professionalism and empathy
  • Document telephone follow-ups and patient education
  • Train, mentor, and support clinical and administrative staff to maintain a high standard of care
  • Ensure compliance with clinic policies, procedures, and state/federal healthcare regulations
  • Educate patients about pain procedures, pre-op preparation, and post-procedure scheduling expectations
  • Complete discharge documentation in the EMR and follow up with patients’ post-procedure
  • Promote wellness and patient education for improved health outcomes

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and OneNote
  • Compassionate, patient-focused approach
  • Ability to effectively follow and give directions
  • Detail-oriented and organized

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in a healthcare or ambulatory clinical setting
  • Familiarity with eClinicalWorks EMR
  • Background in direct patient care or medical office coordination
  • Preferred Certification, but not mandatory.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk and stand for approximately 60% of the shift
  • Lift up to 15 lbs unassisted
  • Perform intermittent reaching, stretching, bending, and lifting tasks required for assisting in patient mobility and clinic duties
  • Capable of delivering CPR and performing patient care tasks requiring upper body strength
  • Reasonable accommodations will be made in accordance with ADA guidelines

This is a part-time position with varied schedule. Primarily first shift hours, Monday-Friday. May be daily during training phase.
