Overview
Apex Global Heavy Haul & Rigging Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and experienced RGN Heavy Haul Driver to join our growing team. We specialize in transporting oversized and overweight freight throughout the United States using multi-axle RGN and specialized heavy haul equipment.
We are looking for a professional driver who is safety-focused, dependable, and capable of making sound decisions while operating under demanding conditions. Responsibilities
- Safely operate RGN and specialized heavy haul equipment to transport oversized and overweight loads.
- Comply with all FMCSA, DOT, and state oversize/overweight permit regulations.
- Understand and follow route surveys, permits, bridge restrictions, and escort requirements.
- Perform thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections.
- Properly secure heavy equipment, machinery, transformers, steel, and other oversized cargo using chains, binders, straps, and specialized securement methods.
- Maintain communication with dispatch and escort vehicles.
- Safely navigate restricted routes, construction zones, and challenging job sites.
- Keep assigned equipment clean, well-maintained, and immediately report any mechanical issues.
- Represent the company professionally with customers, law enforcement, and permitting agencies.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of heavy haul and RGN experience.
- Proven experience hauling oversized and overweight loads.
- Valid Class A CDL.
- Clean driving record with no serious moving violations.
- Ability to travel throughout the United States for extended periods.
- Strong understanding of load securement and heavy haul safety procedures.
- Ability to safely operate multi-axle trailers and specialized heavy haul equipment.
- Excellent route planning and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
Mandatory Qualifications
- Must pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing.
- No drug use or alcohol-related violations.
- Must speak, read, and understand fluent English.
- Must possess critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Must have experience operating oversize and overweight RGN loads.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and safety-oriented.
- Must be physically capable of climbing, chaining, tarping when required, and performing inspections.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with steerable trailers, multi-axle configurations, and specialized transport equipment.
- Knowledge of state permitting requirements and escort procedures.
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot minor equipment issues.
- TWIC card and passport are a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
- $1.50 per loaded mile plus weekly bonuses.
- Average monthly earnings: $22,000–$27,000 (based on workload and performance).
