Overview
Apex Excavating & Underground is looking to fill a position for a CDL driver. We have a variety of trucks from small tandem dump trucks, and gravel leads, to lowboy and tractor. This all requires a CDL A. Experience preffered, but we are willing to train with stuff such as loading and unloading equipment, legal weights, and so forth. This position will also include the occasional operation of heavy equipment on jobsites and places they are moved to. Position will require a pre-employment drug test, and MVR
Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, including trailers, flatbeds, and tankers, across assigned routes while complying with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations
- Navigate using GPS systems to follow optimal routes for timely deliveries and pickups
- Load and unload freight manually or with equipment, ensuring proper cargo handling and securement in accordance with hazardous materials regulations when applicable
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery documentation, and cargo manifests following FMCSA regulations
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on trucks and trailers to identify maintenance needs or safety issues
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery schedules, route changes, or any issues encountered during transit
Experience
- Proven experience as a commercial truck driver with a valid CDL A license
- Demonstrated knowledge of truck loading and unloading procedures for equipment and materials.
- Experience driving trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or tractor-trailers in over-the-road (OTR) routes preferred
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems for route planning and real-time adjustments
- Knowledge of DOT regulations, Weight and hauling regulations.
- Delivery driver experience involving freight handling, route driving, and manual handling skills necessary for load & unload tasks
- Ability to operate manual transmission trucks safely and efficiently
