Employment, Benefits & Scheduling :

Full-Time Employees

• Full-Time employees are expected to work three (3) 12-hour shifts per week, for a regularly scheduled 36-hour workweek.
• Scheduled shifts may include weekends and holidays based on facility staffing needs.
• Full-Time employees are eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, and Paid Time Off (PTO) benefits.

PRN Employees

• PRN positions do not include benefits.
• PRN employees are expected to maintain availability to work a minimum of two (2) shifts per month based on facility needs.
• Available PRN shifts may include day shifts, night shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Shift Differentials

• All night shifts receive a 10% shift differential based on the employee’s base hourly rate.
• Weekend day shifts receive a 10% shift differential based on the employee’s base hourly rate.
• Shift differentials do not stack. A weekend night shift receives the applicable night-shift differential only.

Job Summary

Apex ER is seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse to join our freestanding emergency room team.

The RN provides emergency nursing care to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, including triage, assessment, medication administration, procedures, diagnostic testing, point-of-care testing, patient education, and discharge support. The RN works closely with other team members to provide safe, timely, high-quality emergency care.

This role requires strong clinical judgment, flexibility, teamwork, and the ability to respond independently and effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

Required Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current Texas RN license.
• Minimum 2 years of hospital-based emergency department RN experience.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
• Strong emergency assessment, critical-thinking, prioritization, and communication skills.
• Ability to care for patients across the lifespan.
• Ability to work independently and remain calm during high-acuity situations.
• Basic computer proficiency; ability to use EPowerDoc, Microsoft 365, and clinical equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous freestanding emergency room experience.
• TNCC, ENPC, or CEN certification.
• Trauma, pediatric emergency, or critical-care experience.
• Point-of-care laboratory experience.
• EPowerDoc experience.

Professional Expectations

• Maintain required licenses, certifications, competencies, and annual education.
• Demonstrate reliable attendance, professional communication, and sound clinical judgment.
• Represent Apex ER professionally and work effectively as part of the emergency-care team.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods, including shifts of up to 12 hours.
• Ability to sit at a computer or workstation for portions of the shift.
• Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
• Ability to assist with patient transfers, positioning, and mobility.
• Ability to lift up to approximately 50 pounds independently and greater weights with appropriate assistance or equipment.
• Physical ability to respond rapidly during emergency situations.
• Manual dexterity necessary to perform emergency nursing procedures.

Work Environment

This position is performed within a freestanding emergency room and may involve exposure to blood, bodily fluids, infectious materials, potentially hazardous substances, communicable diseases, emergency and high-acuity clinical situations, adult and pediatric emergencies, trauma and resuscitation, emotional distress, rapid changes in clinical priorities, and periods of high patient volume. Appropriate personal protective equipment and established safety procedures must be utilized when indicated.
