We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Assistant Project Manager* to join our team at our Daphne, Alabama office. *This position supports project managers in coordinating federal construction projects, managing documentation, communicating with stakeholders, and ensuring smooth project execution from start to finish.
Position Overview
The Assistant Project Manager will work closely with Apex’s Project Management team to support planning, coordination, documentation, scheduling, and communication for ongoing projects. This role requires strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a commitment to accuracy and efficiency. The ideal candidate will be proactive, solution-oriented, and capable of working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Project Coordination & Support
- Assist project managers with daily coordination of project activities, schedules, and deliverables.
- Monitor project progress and help ensure timelines and goals are met.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare and manage project documentation, including submittals, RFIs, meeting minutes, daily reports, and compliance records.
- Maintain organized project files to support transparency and audit readiness.
Communication
- Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to facilitate information flow.
- Support regular communication with clients and stakeholders to ensure alignment and clarity.
Quality & Compliance
- Assist with monitoring work quality and ensuring adherence to federal, safety, and company standards.
- Help verify that subcontractors and vendors meet required compliance criteria.
Administrative & Office Support
- Provide in-office assistance to support project planning, procurement, scheduling, and material tracking.
- Support preparation of budgets, change orders, and project updates as needed.
Qualifications
Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience supporting construction, project management, engineering, or related operations.
- Familiarity with federal, DoD, or large-scale commercial construction projects preferred.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Additional education or certifications in construction management, engineering, business administration, or a related field are a plus.
Skills:
- Strong organizational, analytical, and time-management abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interpret basic construction documents and specifications.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite; experience with project management tools preferred.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt to shifting project needs.
Certifications:
- OSHA 30 certification is preferred.
Pay: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
