Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced, highly skilled Master Autobody technician to oversee day-to-day operations in our autobody repair shop. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with expert-level knowledge in collision repair, frame straightening, painting, refinishing, and shop workflow management. This role is responsible for ensuring the highest quality repairs, meeting production deadlines, and leading a team of technicians with professionalism and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Shop Oversight & Workflow Management
- Manage and coordinate repair schedules and technician assignments to ensure timely and efficient job completion.
- Monitor repair progress and adjust workflow as needed to meet daily and weekly shop goals.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA and industry standards.
- Technical Leadership
- Perform advanced diagnostics, structural repairs, frame straightening, welding, and refinishing work as needed.
- Inspect and sign off on completed work to ensure quality control and adherence to OEM standards.
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and on-the-job training to junior and mid-level technicians.
- Customer & Insurance Coordination
- Collaborate with service advisors and estimators to ensure repair plans are accurate and aligned with customer and insurance expectations.
- Communicate with customers and insurance adjusters when technical expertise is required to clarify repair processes or concerns.
- Inventory & Equipment Management
- Oversee usage and maintenance of shop tools, welders, frame machines, paint booths, and other repair equipment.
- Coordinate with management for parts ordering, inventory tracking, and ensuring necessary materials are always on hand.
Qualifications:
- 8 years of hands-on autobody repair experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or foreman role.
- I-CAR, ASE, or OEM certifications preferred (but not required if experience is strong).
- Deep knowledge of structural and non-structural repairs, metal finishing, plastic repair, and refinishing techniques.
- Strong understanding of collision estimating software and repair planning processes.
- Excellent problem-solving, time management, and communication skills.
- Ability to lead by example, remain calm under pressure, and foster a team-oriented work culture.
