PostgreSQL & Oracle Database Consultant/Remote

Job Summary

We are seeking a PostgreSQL & Oracle Database Consultant with experience in database administration, development, and performance optimization. The candidate will be responsible for managing database environments, ensuring availability, performance, security, and supporting application teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL and Oracle databases.
• Monitor database performance and optimize queries, indexes, and configurations.
• Perform database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery activities.
• Troubleshoot database issues and provide production support.
• Manage database security, user roles, and access controls.
• Support database migration, upgrade, and patching activities.
• Collaborate with developers and infrastructure teams for application support.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.

Required Skills

• Strong experience with PostgreSQL and Oracle databases.
• Knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL, and database performance tuning.
• Experience with backup and recovery strategies.
• Understanding of database replication and high availability concepts.
• Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments.
• Good troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud database environments is a plus.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, or PostgreSQL replication.
• Knowledge of AWS RDS, Azure Database, or Google Cloud SQL.
• Familiarity with automation and scripting tools (Shell, Python, Ansible).
