As an Activities Assistant, you will assist in planning, organizing, and directing the overall operation of the Therapeutic Recreation Department, ensuring that our residents receive a comprehensive program of activities that cater to their interests and well-being.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning and provision of patient care by visiting residents regularly to evaluate their needs
- Document and report to the nursing department any unusual or significant findings
- Report all reportable events immediately in accordance with our policy
- Encourage residents to participate in activities of daily living that stimulate their physical, mental, social, and spiritual well-being
- Spend duty time with residents rather than with other facility staff
- Assist with and follow through on the establishment of resident care goals within the framework of the entire therapeutic team
- Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent
- Preferably, one (1) year experience in an Activities Department in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility, or other related medical facility
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public
- Knowledgeable in the Privacy Rule and ensuring all staff comply with facility privacy practices policies and procedures
- Patient, tactful, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm
- Ability to seek out new methods and principles and incorporate them into existing policies and procedures
- Ability to relate information concerning a resident's condition
- Willingness to participate in continuing education and inservice training
- We are a PART-TIME position, and the successful candidate will be required to work a varying schedule
