Product Specialist 

Division: Retail 

Location: Portland, Oregon 

Reports to: Store Manager | Type: Part-Time & Full-Time 

About the Role 

The Product Specialist (Budtender) is responsible for delivering a knowledgeable, compliant, and service-focused retail cannabis experience. This position educates adult-use customers on available cannabis products, strains, cannabinoids, terpene profiles, consumption methods, and responsible-use considerations to support informed purchasing decisions without making medical claims.  

The Product Specialist accurately verifies identification, processes sales through the point-of-sale system, follows applicable OLCC regulations and purchase limits, and provides a warm, educational customer service experience. This role also supports a clean, organized, and welcoming dispensary environment while consistently upholding Golden Grail Group service standards, company procedures, and all applicable cannabis-industry requirements. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Maintain current knowledge of cannabis strains, products, consumption methods, and cannabis culture. 

  • Provide an inviting, clean, and safe retail environment. 

  • Deliver exceptional customer service while supporting a positive and compliant store atmosphere. 

  • Greet customers and answer incoming phone calls professionally. 

  • Accurately process transactions using the point-of-sale (POS) system and handle cash responsibly. 

  • Enter customer information accurately and efficiently. 

  • Verify required identification, documentation, and compliance records. 

  • Maintain store cleanliness, organization, merchandising, and company standards. 

  • Represent the Chalice and Golden Grail Group brands with professionalism, compassion, and care. 

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned based on business and operational needs.

    Requirements 

  • Must be 21 years of age or older. 

  • Must possess a valid OLCC Marijuana Worker Permit to be considered for employment. The permit fee will be reimbursed after completing 90 days of employment. 

  • Reliable transportation to and from work. 

  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. 

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and perform the physical duties of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation. 

    Preferred Qualifications 

  • Working knowledge of OLCC cannabis regulations. 

  • Strong communication and customer service skills. 

  • Cannabis product knowledge or a willingness to learn. 

  • Previous experience with POS systems and cash handling. 

  • Excellent organization and time-management skills. 

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 

    Schedule & Work Location 

  • Day and night shifts are available, with weekday and weekend availability required. 

  • Some holiday availability is required based on store needs. 

  • This position is on-site only and does not offer remote work opportunities.
