Electrical Design Engineer Job Description
We are seeking a self-driven Electrical Design Engineer to join our control and automation consulting firm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design control panels within industrial facilities
- Design and document control system architectures in various industries
- Validate construction and provide QA of fabricated equipment, primarily control panels
- Use CAD for control panel design
- Specify instrumentation and provide ISA data sheets where applicable
- Evaluate delivered projects against client specifications
- Collaborate with other staff members for consistent design on larger projects
- Support peers in their development
- Document project progress and report to project managers and clients
- Develop and implement engineering standards according to client needs
- Provide training to clients about delivered systems
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering or mechatronics from an accredited college or university, or experience as a licensed electrician
- Minimum 2 years of design or controls experience in an industrial setting (water/wastewater, refining, mining, manufacturing, chemical processing)
- Familiarity with electrical components used in industrial automation (PLCs, VFDs), wiring, and NEC code
- Detail-oriented and proud of work quality
- Demonstrated strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or other CAD applications
- SCADA, PLC, HMI experience preferred
- VBA, Python, or other scripting languages preferred
- Network design experience preferred
