Role Description The Job Captain is a full-time, hybrid role based in Mountain View, CA, with flexibility for some work from home. The person in this role will coordinate project documentation from schematic design through construction documents, ensuring that drawings are accurate, consistent, and aligned with project goals and code requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing detailed plans and elevations, organizing consultant information, assisting with permit submittals, and supporting construction administration tasks such as responding to RFIs and reviewing shop drawings. The Job Captain will collaborate closely with project managers, designers, consultants, and contractors to maintain project schedules, deliverables, and quality standards. This role also involves mentoring junior team members, maintaining project file organization, and contributing to continuous improvement of office standards and workflows.
Qualifications
- Strong architectural design and technical skills, including preparing coordinated construction documents, detailing, and plan organization.
- Proficiency with relevant design and documentation tools (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office or similar platforms).
- Working knowledge of building codes, accessibility standards, permitting processes, and coordination with engineering and specialty consultants.
- Demonstrated project coordination abilities, including tracking tasks, managing deadlines, and communicating clearly with internal teams and external partners.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document decisions, present information clearly, and participate in client and consultant meetings.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment, managing multiple priorities with attention to detail and follow-through.
- Professional degree in Architecture or a related field; progress toward architectural licensure or relevant certifications is preferred.
- Experience in commercial, workplace, or interior architecture projects is beneficial, as is familiarity with sustainable design practices and green building standards.
