Position Summary:
The Junior Financial Controller is responsible for leading all financial functions of a medical receivables company and its affiliated Special Purpose Entity (SPE), which jointly invest in medical receivables. This role includes oversight of core accounting, cash flow forecasting, intra- and intercompany transaction management, investor waterfall modeling, and regulatory compliance. The Junior Controller ensures the integrity and timeliness of financial reporting across both entities and provides data-driven insights to support operational and strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Receivables & Revenue Oversight
- Track and reconcile purchased receivables, collections, and yield performance.
- Apply appropriate revenue recognition policies for medical receivables and factor fee structures.
- Maintain accurate aging reports and collection curve analysis to forecast cash recoveries and IRR.
SPE Financial Management & Waterfall Accounting
- Maintain complete and accurate financial records for the SPE, including capital accounts, investment allocations, and income distributions.
- Build, manage, and maintain investor waterfall models aligned with SPE operating agreements, including preferred returns, catch-ups, and profit splits.
- Prepare quarterly investor statements, capital account reports, and cash distribution calculations.
- Ensure timely and accurate capital calls and distributions in coordination with funding schedules and receivable purchases.
Intra- and Intercompany Accounting Oversight
- Ensure accurate, timely, and fully reconciled intra- and intercompany transactions, including management fees, receivables transfers, service reimbursements, capital movement, and shared expenses.
- Maintain clear audit trails and documentation for inter-entity agreements and allocations.
- Reconcile intercompany balances monthly and eliminate appropriately in consolidated reporting.
- Ensure all intercompany transactions are arm’s-length and compliant with regulatory/tax expectations.
Cash Flow Management & Treasury Operations
- Manage cash across operating and SPE entities, including escrow, and reserve accounts.
- Develop and maintain rolling cash flow forecasts across multiple entities.
- Coordinate with the CFO, banks, investors, and internal stakeholders on cash needs, availability, and capital movements.
- Oversee reserve tracking, working capital optimization, and cash-on-cash return forecasting.
Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
- Lead the monthly and quarterly close process across both the company and SPE, ensuring completeness, timeliness, and GAAP compliance.
- Consolidate financials and prepare internal reports including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and investor performance analytics.
- Prepare board packages, investor updates, and lender compliance documentation.
- Support annual audit and tax processes in coordination with external advisors.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Performance Analysis
- Develop and maintain company- and SPE-level budgets, forecasts, and key performance dashboards.
- Model financial performance scenarios based on receivables purchase velocity, collection performance, and investor return expectations.
- Track IRR, multiple on invested capital (MOIC), and working capital velocity.
Governance, Controls & Compliance
- Ensure internal controls are designed and functioning effectively across both entities.
- Monitor compliance with all legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations—including HIPAA, investor agreements, and tax requirements.
- Maintain accurate, auditable records for all transactions—especially those involving investor funds or intercompany activity.
- Ensure adherence to terms in SPE operating agreements and intercompany service agreements.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CFA preferred).
- 5–10 years of progressive experience in accounting/finance, with exposure to healthcare receivables, SPEs, or private investment vehicles.
- Direct experience managing intercompany accounting, investment waterfalls, and structured finance reporting.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, fund accounting principles, and multi-entity consolidations.
- Direct experience in managing teams supporting Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and general accounting operations
Skills & Competencies
- High-level proficiency in Excel and financial modeling (including waterfall and IRR models).
- Strong familiarity with AccountingSEED, QuickBooks or comparable ERP systems.
- Excellent communication skills with ability to present complex financial data clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- Excellent leadership skills in managing and mentoring accounting-centric teams
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational discipline.

Must Haves:
- Bachelor or Masters degree in Accounting or Finance
- A minimum of 5 years progressive experience in accounting or finance services
- Direct experience managing book closings, accounting transactions & financial reporting

- Strong knowledge of GAAP, fund accounting principles, and multi-entity consolidations
- High-level proficiency in Excel and financial modeling
