What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Specialist position at AP Federal?
Conducting daily safety inspections of work areas and equipment and reporting required metrics.
Leading regular safety meetings and awareness initiatives to promote a strong safety culture.
Providing safety training and education on proper work practices and equipment use.
Assisting Project Managers with the development of Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA)documents.
Investigating all accidents and near-miss incidents, determining root causes, and documenting findings.
Preparing detailed incident reports and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Implementing and monitoring the effectiveness of corrective measures.
Staying current with OSHA, local, and industry-specific safety regulations and ensuring compliance.
Monitoring adherence to both SETS II and the General Contractor’s safety policies and procedures.
Maintaining accurate safety records, documentation, monthly metrics, and employee safety reports.
Identifying potential hazards, unsafe conditions, defective tools, or unsafe equipment.
Training workers in the safe use of construction tools and equipment.
Communicating effectively in both written and verbal formats.
Qualifications / Education
5 years of construction safety experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated leadership experience, particularly with teams of field personnel on construction sites.
Ability to coordinate with multiple disciplines and collaborate with safety personnel from various organizations.
Salary : $50 - $55
