The AOPC is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Assistant Court Administrator for Lancaster County. This pivotal role is responsible for the efficient scheduling and management of all criminal actions requiring court hearings, including trials, probation violations, and guilty pleas. The successful candidate will play a critical role in optimizing court time, ensuring timely case processing, and supervising key operational units. Job Duties Criminal Case Scheduling & Management: Prepare and distribute monthly judicial assignments for criminal/civil judges, ensuring equitable distribution of work and maximizing court resources. Monitor courtroom activities daily, making necessary schedule adjustments for timely event processing. Organize and provide weekly judicial case assignments for trial cases. Collaborate with the Clerk of Courts and District Attorney's Office to monitor cases and ensure all have pending events, utilizing CPCMS for data entry and reporting. Ensure compliance with criminal rules and provide feedback on court performance measures. Jury Unit Supervision & Efficiency: Work closely with judges to determine the number of jurors needed for Criminal Trial Terms. Prepare reports and recommendations to increase juror efficiency. Supervise the Jury Coordinator, streamlining processes to enhance effectiveness. Submit monthly statistics on jury performance measures to the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts. Team Leadership & Supervision: Supervise a team of 4 full-time employees and approximately 33 part-time bailiffs. Regularly meet with staff to provide guidance, answer questions, and offer input. Court Collaboration: Confer with judges on criminal court matters, providing procedural histories of individual cases. Attend judges' meetings as requested and serve on the Criminal Court Task Force to enhance the criminal case processing system. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Judicial, Business, or Public Administration, or a closely related field; PLUS Three years of professional-level experience in court management or four years of varied office management work, including professional-level experience in budgeting, procurement, and human resources management. An equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training may be considered. Preferences / Requirements Strong understanding of criminal court procedures is preferred Excellent communication with the ability to collaborate effectively with judges, court staff, and external agencies. Proficiency in CPCMS is preferred Manage complex scheduling efficiently. Satisfactory criminal background check required.
