What are the responsibilities and job description for the Robotics Technician Intern position at Aonics?
What you will do
- Assemble complete robots end to end: frame, drivetrain, brackets, mounts, enclosures
- Build and terminate wiring harnesses, solder subassemblies, and wire up power distribution and sensors
- Bring up assembled units on the bench and troubleshoot the ones that do not work
- Fabricate parts, jigs, and fixtures on the 3D printers and hand tools, and correct the fit when the drawing and the real part disagree
- Tear machines down after testing, find what failed, and repair it
- Keep the lab, inventory, and build documentation in order
- You can solder cleanly and crimp to spec
- You are comfortable with hand tools, power tools, calipers, fasteners, and a 3D printer
- You can read a wiring diagram and use a multimeter
- You have built physical things and can show them to us. School robotics team, personal projects, a repaired engine, a machine in a garage. Where it happened matters less than that it worked
- You can take a build from a box of parts to a working unit without someone standing over you
- You are available 20 hours per week, on-site, on a consistent weekly schedule
- CAD in SolidWorks, Fusion, or Onshape
- Machining, welding, or sheet metal fabrication
- Any exposure to ROS or Python
- A driver's license, since this work eventually goes out to solar sites
