Your Impact as a Health Analytics Data Intern

Health and Benefits Consulting

Employer-sponsored health and welfare benefit programs form the foundation of the U.S. health care system. These programs have evolved over time as employers have attempted to manage the changing needs of employees, rising program costs and the impact of new legislation while supporting their human resource and business strategies.

What You Will Do:

You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of assignments during your internship. As a Health Analytics intern, you will partner with consultants to shape short- and long-term health and benefits strategies for employers, translating complex data and market insights into clear, compelling presentations and reports.

You will contribute to strategic assessments of the health care market, analyze key trends and help identify innovative solutions for employers' health and benefits challenges. This role is well-suited for someone who enjoys team interaction, can balance multiple priorities and is interested in working with large data sets and using data-driven insights to inform health and benefits strategy. Typical job responsibilities include:

  • Be part of a dynamic team focused on healthcare data and innovation
  • Observe and learn effective client interaction alongside experienced team members
  • Prepare consulting deliverables with the use of charts, visualization tools and reporting automation to communicate end-results of technical analyses to a non-technical audience
  • Work on multiple projects and manage timelines, achievements, and delivery efficiently
  • Work with large health claims and risk datasets such as eligibility data, medical claims and prescription drug claims data from multiple different sources
  • Develop understanding of medical claims reporting and billing for inpatient and outpatient services
  • Support the use and maintenance of data warehouses by organizing data and assisting with data validation and data quality to ensure information is structured for efficient reporting.
  • Assist client teams and actuaries with ad-hoc data related requests by producing reports.
  • Work in data analytics tools and assist in developing data automation processes and R/Python-based data pipelines for data ingestion, cleaning, preparation, and version-controlled workflows.

Aon's Internship Program

Interns will work with a cross-functional team to increase exposure across a broad segment of clients. The 10-week summer program includes weekly spotlights delivered by Aon business leaders, a community outreach event and networking opportunities with fellow interns and colleagues.

  • 10-week paid program
