St. Regis Catholic School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, is seeking a faith-filled, experienced, and energetic educational leader to serve as Principal for our Preschool through 8th Grade Catholic school.
The Principal will provide spiritual, academic, operational, and administrative leadership for the school and will work closely with the Pastor, parish leadership, faculty, staff, students, and families to advance the mission of Catholic education at St. Regis.

Position Overview
The Principal serves as the chief administrator and instructional leader of St. Regis Catholic School. This person is responsible for promoting the school's Catholic identity, supporting a positive and safe learning environment, supervising faculty and staff, strengthening academic programs, communicating effectively with families, and ensuring that school operations align with the mission of St. Regis Parish and the Archdiocese of Detroit.
The successful candidate will be a visible and approachable leader who can build trust, support teachers, partner with parents, and help students grow in faith, character, and learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Catholic Identity and Mission
- Promote and model the Catholic mission, values, and identity of St. Regis Catholic School.
- Support the faith formation of students, faculty, staff, and families.
- Work collaboratively with the Pastor and parish leadership to ensure the school is integrated into the parish's broader life and mission.
- Encourage prayer, worship, service, and Christian witness throughout the school community.
- Academic and Instructional Leadership
- Lead and support a strong academic program rooted in best practices and Catholic educational values.
- Supervise, evaluate, mentor, and support faculty and staff.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, professional growth, collaboration, and accountability.
- Use student data and classroom observations to support academic excellence and student growth.
- Ensure curriculum, instruction, and assessment are aligned with applicable standards and Archdiocesan expectations.
School Culture and Student Life
- Create and maintain a safe, respectful, joyful, and faith-filled school environment.
- Support positive student behavior, discipline, character development, and social-emotional growth.
- Be a visible presence in the school and at school events.
- Build strong relationships with students, families, faculty, staff, parishioners, and the broader community.
Communication and Family Partnership
- Communicate clearly, consistently, and professionally with parents, faculty, staff, parish leadership, and the school community.
- Partner with families in support of student success.
- Handle concerns with fairness, discretion, compassion, and good judgment.
- Represent the school positively within the parish and broader community.
Operations, Enrollment, and Stewardship
- Oversee day-to-day school operations, including staffing, scheduling, student services, safety procedures, and school policies.
- Work with parish and school leadership on budgeting, enrollment, advancement, facilities, and long-term planning.
- Support efforts to attract, retain, and serve families.
- Ensure compliance with Archdiocesan policies, state requirements, accreditation expectations, and safe environment protocols.
Qualifications
The preferred candidate will have:
- Practicing the Catholic faith and having a strong commitment to the mission of Catholic education.
- Master’s degree in educational leadership, administration, curriculum and instruction, or a related field preferred.
- Successful teaching and/or school leadership experience.
- Strong understanding of Preschool through 8th Grade education.
- Demonstrated ability to lead faculty and staff with clarity, support, and accountability.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the Pastor, parish leadership, faculty, staff, families, and the Archdiocese of Detroit.
- Familiarity with school operations, student discipline, curriculum oversight, accreditation, budgeting, enrollment, and parent communication.
- Appropriate State of Michigan teacher and/or administrator certification, or willingness and ability to meet applicable requirements.
- Completion of, or willingness to complete, required Archdiocesan certifications and safe environment requirements, including Protecting God’s Children.
