What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Assistant position at Aod?
Primary Areas of Responsibility: Facility Maintenance, Security, Grounds and Parking Areas
Reports to: Director of Maintenance
Type: Non-Exempt, Full Time (40 hours/week)
Reporting Schedule: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
Primary Tasks:
Facility and Grounds
- Maintaining a clean and "clutter-free" facility
- Inspect facility daily, address conditions needing attention
- Assist in the orientation of new employees and volunteers to the facility and its use
- Perform light grounds keeping as needed
- Attentive to the proper functioning of air conditioners, heat, lights, doors, locks, etc.
- Check all areas of the facility, parking lots and grounds
- Become aware of and able to communicate procedures for using the facility and resources
- Engage in special preventive maintenance, repair or cleaning of all facilities as time allows
- Undertake maintenance repairs, preventative maintenance and cleaning of facilities as directed by the Pastor and Maintenance Supervisor including, semi-skilled carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and other repair work that does not specifically require a licensed professional.
Safety & Security
- Recognize safety issues and fix any problems as they arise
- Identify possible safety issues and take steps to avoid accidents
- Communicate safety issues that cannot be readily fixed to Maintenance Supervisor
- Question unknown persons as to why they are in the building and assist them if necessary
General
- Provide support to Parish Staff as needed
- Accept deliveries to buildings as needed
- Other duties as assigned within the scope and timeframe of this position including, but not limited to, assisting supervisor as needed.
Qualifications
Required
- Ability to honor and maintain confidentiality
- Ability to self-motivate, manage responsibilities and work independently
- Valid Driver's license
- Ability to safely lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to effectively communicate and work with staff and volunteers
- Must pass background check and complete "Protecting God's Children" workshop
Preferred
- Facilities, grounds and general maintenance experience
- PC skills
