Lunch Duty Supervisor Job Description

The Lunch Duty Supervisor has a significant role in contributing to the success of the school and each school day. Students who have a safe, respectful, and positive lunch and recess time will be refreshed and ready for success in the second half of their school day.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Overall accountability of students and monitors during lunch/recess.
- Scheduling of lunch/recess monitors; ensuring enough coverage daily.
- Oversee timesheets and hours of lunch/recess monitors (Payroll).
- Overall accountability of preparing cafeteria for lunch and cleaning up after lunch duty.
- Locking lunch duty supplies in the designated area at the end of the day.
- First aid, accident reports, head/neck reports, and allergy awareness for students.
- Conflict resolution and communication with administration/staff regarding accidents and/or behavioral issues.
Behavior Guidelines:
- Talk to children calmly and with respect.
- Positive praise for appropriate behaviors.
- Verbal redirections must maintain dignity and respect of students involved.
- Log significant issues/negative behaviors for administration/staff to address further.
Lunch/Recess Monitor Guidelines:
- Model Mission Statement through words and actions.
- Background Checks/Protecting God’s Children must be completed and documented.
- Phones should not be used outside of significant concern.
- All areas where students are present must be monitored.
- Watch and listen with intent to help ensure a safe and respectful lunch/recess.
Qualifications:
- First Aid and CPR Certification
- Allergy Aware
- Concussion training preferred
- Criminal Background Check, Protecting God’s Children, and Fingerprinting
- History of child supervision, lunch/recess duty preferred
