Hydroelectric Power Plant Station Operator

A local company is seeking a hydro operator to join our team who will be responsible for the daily operation and maintenance activities of our automated hydroelectric generating station located in Essex County, VT (near Caledonia County, VT, Grafton County, NH, and Coos County, NH).

Duties include inspection and operation of hydroelectric generating facilities and associated maintenance work. Status reports on weekly operations. Strong communications skills, able to dictate in detail conditions of the facility. This is a full time position and pay will be on an hourly basis. On call rotation is required.

REQUIREMENTS:

-- High school diploma or equivalent experience

-- Valid driver’s license

-- Relevant experience in a related field preferred

-- Able to respond to alarm calls, including after hours when on call

-- Ability to climb ladders and enter confined spaces

-- Able to lift 50 pounds from floor safely

RESPONSIBILITIES:

-- Daily operation of power plant equipment including daily logs and reporting requirements

-- Ensure cleanliness of facility

-- Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs)

-- Available for emergency backup call-in due to sickness or need for additional manpower to remove ice and leaves

-- Available to cover other shifts for vacationing personnel

-- Able to work without supervision and maintain safe work practices

-- Snow removal, hand sanding of pathways in winter

-- Solve problems related to equipment malfunctions

-- Adhere to strict safety protocols and use appropriate safety equipment

-- Collaborate effectively and communicate clearly with colleagues, contractors, and supervisors
