Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Brake Press Set Up technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and setting up brake press machines to produce precision sheet metal components according to detailed blueprints and specifications. Your expertise will ensure efficient operation, high-quality output, and adherence to safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine machine setup requirements.
- Program and operate brake press machines, ensuring accurate configuration for each job.
- Select, install, and adjust tooling and dies on the press brake machine to meet production specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting on the press brake machine to maintain optimal performance.
- Collaborate with quality inspection teams to ensure finished parts meet strict tolerances and quality standards.
- Utilize hand tools, fabrication equipment, and safety gear effectively while adhering to all safety protocols.
- Maintain detailed records of machine setups, adjustments, and production data for traceability and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Proven experience setting up and operating brake press machines in a manufacturing environment. Currently using Amada machines.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with familiarity in CNC programming and operation.
- Must have a good understanding of the entire machine.
- Ability to read complex blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
- Skilled in using precision measuring tools, such as micrometers and calipers to ensure products are made to specification.
- Knowledge of fabrication processes including sheet metal working, stamping, CNC laser cutting, and assembly techniques.
- Basic math skills necessary for precise measurement calculations and adjustments.
- Experience with tooling selection and setup for various machinery.
- Ability to operate hand tools safely.
- Strong attention to detail combined with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Must maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations including proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Commitment to quality standards.
Qualifications
- High School Education or Equivalent Preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude and basic math skills
- Minimum 2 years' experience in metal fabrication preferred
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instruction and written processes
- Basic computer skills
- Excellent attendance
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
