What are the responsibilities and job description for the 1ST SHIFT * Material Handler/Forklift Operator position at AOC Metal Works?
Position Description Summary: AOC Metal Works is a provider of customized stamping and metal fabrication services with three locations in Virginia and one in Tennessee. Our material handlers play an essential role in logistics and the supply chain as they help to get products from us to the customers that need them.
This position will support our PAINTLINE OPERATIONS in our Chester plant by palletizing and staging material for shipment. Attention to detail and precision in picking & putting away is critical for the successful candidate.
Principal Accountabilities: (The following is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. It is not an exhaustive list of all expectations.):
- Using a seated forklift and/or pallet jack, moves pallets of raw metal to the paint line for processing; will also move finished pallets to appropriate area in warehouse
- Ensure pallet is properly loaded and load secured, enabling safe delivery of product.
- Prepares finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing product
- May also assist with removing painted parts from conveyor at unload station and stack for banding for storage or shipment, stacking bundles according to customer requirements
- Inspect finished parts as they're unloaded, notify Lead of any defects in finished coating, including running, cracking, peeling, blistering, and discoloration, and repair defects
- Maintains material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections; making operator repairs
- Willingness to cross train and work in other areas
- Adheres to all company policies and procedures
- Assist with other duties as assigned
Education, Knowledge, Experience and Skills Required for Position:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven work experience in a manufacturing or production environment
- Ability to properly operate an RF machine is critical
- Significant forklift experience or certification required
- Able to work in a team-oriented environment
- Must be able to analyze information with a strong attention to detail
- Basic language skills. Able to read and comprehend basic instructions and write basic correspondence in English.
- Ability to work safely, wearing required PPE at all times
- Must possess computer and data entry skills
- Must be able to frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 lbs
- Must have a satisfactory driving record
- Ability to work in a hot/cold (not climate controlled) warehouse environment
