What are the responsibilities and job description for the Welder position at AOC Metal Works-FAB Division?
The MIG Welder is responsible for fabricating metal products according to employer and customer specifications through the use of welders, cutters, shapers and metal tools.
Principal Accountabilities: (The following is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. It is not an exhaustive list of all expectations.):
- Create quality welds according to blueprints by using and understanding weld symbols
- Inspect welds for accuracy
- Prepare product to be welded by drilling, milling, tapping and cutting steel/aluminum parts
- Remove and replace welding consumables, such as gas tanks and spooled wire as needed
- Responsible for the proper packaging, identifying and moving of all finished products to the proper location
- Ensure all equipment is properly set-up and used in a safe manner and that all safety devices are in use
- Operate fork lift, if required and trained
- Performs first piece inspections as well as all subsequent inspections as required by AOC standards
- Monitor equipment and request maintenance when required
- Perform simple maintenance and repair as required
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs occasionally multiple times
- Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Willingness to cross train and work in all areas of the warehouse
- Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
Education, Knowledge, Experience and Skills Required for Position:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic computer skills required
- AWS certification or 5 years of welding experience/prototype welding
- Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures
- Experience using electrical or manual tools
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
- Must have strong attention to detail and be quality oriented
- Must work in a safe manner and wear PPE as required
- Ability to work in a hot/cold warehouse environment
