Based in Piperton, TN, the Chemist-Pigment Dispersions role will be hands-on with formulating, compounding and molding. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of chemistry, be mechanically inclined, creative, curious and passionate about creating and using chemistry and composite fabrication methods to solve real-world technical challenges. Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities
- Product development of pigment and thickening formulations for composites – end uses including but not limited to construction, automotive, recreation and infrastructure
- Support the Product Leader-Pigment Dispersions in design of experiments, formula development, preparing samples with hands on laboratory work, maintaining equipment, and authoring technical reports
- Seek out new opportunities for pigment and resin formulations
- Collaborate with customers and colleagues
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Composites Engineering, Materials Science, or Polymer Science preferred; Exception to this requirement may be made by fulfilling the desired experience and having a degree in the sciences
- 1 years of experience formulating pigment dispersions and color matching
- 1 years of experience formulating or compounding resins
- Hands-on laboratory skills
- Relevant experience in the following: Formulating or compounding unsaturated polyester and epoxy vinyl ester resins; Molding or fabricating composites; Color matching and weather testing
- Knowledge of physical testing and mechanical properties
- Proficient knowledge of MS Office and computer systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must have strong organization, project management, problem-solving, and time management skills
- Willing and able to travel 5% annually
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
