Duties

• Conduct thorough patient assessments, including physical examinations, vital signs, and detailed wound evaluations to determine appropriate treatment plans.
• Develop and implement individualized wound care protocols utilizing advanced techniques such as debridement, dressings, skin grafts, and Botulinum toxin treatments when indicated.
• Administer injections, perform suturing, and manage complex wound closures while adhering to sterile techniques and infection control standards.
• Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive patient care plans.
• Document all clinical encounters accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Athenahealth, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Educate patients and their families on wound management, prevention strategies, and lifestyle modifications to support healing and prevent recurrence.
• Participate in clinical research initiatives related to wound healing innovations and contribute to quality improvement projects aimed at elevating care standards.

Requirements

• Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with valid certification in your practicing state.
• Proven experience in wound care management within hospital settings, nursing homes, or outpatient clinics.
• Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for documentation and order entry.
• Skilled in performing procedures such as IV infusion, catheterization, venipuncture, sterile dressing changes, and suturing techniques.
• Knowledge of advanced therapies including hyperbaric oxygen therapy (if applicable), dermal fillers for esthetic purposes, and Botulinum toxin treatments for pain management.
• Familiarity with CPT coding for billing purposes along with ICD coding (ICD-10) for accurate diagnosis documentation.
• Critical care experience in ICU or Level I/II trauma centers is highly desirable; experience working with patients requiring complex interventions like ventilator management or spinal taps is a plus.
• Strong understanding of infection control practices, HIPAA compliance, and medical documentation standards.
• Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, individuals with disabilities or developmental delays.
• Additional experience in telehealth services, acute pain management, hospice & palliative medicine, or behavioral health enhances your candidacy.
