Role Summary
The Systems Test Engineer role supports Anuvu's development/connectivity team in Lombard, IL. This role will focus on the air-side equipment that contains avionic equipment including Server Management Unit (SMU), Satellite tracking system, wireless APs, High power transceiver and a Ku band modems. The SMU is a central component in the system running Arch Linux. It offers web portal services, video services, firewall, connectivity, and other backend services. Video services include IPTV and VOD content with CMAF DRM and HLS. Ground-side support as required.

What You'll Be Doing
- A pply a strong working knowledge of RF, digital, analog, power, and system-level electronic.
- Operate test equipment confidently, including voltmeters, oscilloscope, spectrum analyzers, and programmable power supplies.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, capable of diagnosing issues from board level (PCB) to full system level troubleshooting.
- Experience working with development platforms such as Raspberry Pi, Arduino, or similar microcontrollers is highly desirable for prototyping and system integration efforts.
- Provide remote field support
- For underperforming aircrafts at Midway Airport. 1-4 per month between 11pm to 4am.
- As needed for various customers
- Analyze hardware and software system designs to understand functionality, system interactions, and potential failure points.
- Envision, design, and plan test scenarios based on system requirements, real-world use cases, and operational conditions.
- Develop, build, and configure test setups and environments, including:
- Installing, maintaining, and configuring avionic, RF, and electronic lab equipment
- Hardware prototyping: component selection, small to medium board builds, enclosure fabrication, cable assembly, and wiring
- Assist with troubleshooting and root cause analysis of hardware and software issues, supporting Engineering, NOC, QA, and Software teams.
- Execute manual and automated testing, covering experimental, prototype, and production stages, utilizing standard engineering practices.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts (e.g., Python, Shell) to streamline test execution and reporting tasks.
- Work with object-oriented programming languages and APIs for integration, validation, and automation efforts.
- Utilize documentation tools to draft and maintain:
- Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)
- Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Test procedures
- Assembly/fabrication outlines
- Test reports
- BS: Electrical Engineer or Computer Engineer
- Solid troubleshooting skills across RF, digital, analog, and software systems
- Strong collaborative skills working across Engineering, QA, NOC, and Software teams
- Scripting/programming experience (Python preferred; others acceptable)
- Hardware prototyping and electronics lab skills (soldering, basic fabrication, wiring)
- Hands-on experience with microcontroller platforms such as Raspberry Pi and Arduino
- Ability to support Lombard Lab involving satellite dishes, LRUs, and limited rooftop access.
