ABOUT THE ROLE
Anuvia Prevention and Recovery Center is seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Outpatient Clinic team. This position plays a critical role in supporting Anuvia's CCBHC (Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic) service model by delivering quality nursing care to individuals enrolled in outpatient medication management.
The LPN will perform routine health screenings and wellness monitoring required under CCBHC standards — including height, weight, blood pressure, and other vital signs — as well as assist with lab work and coordinate clinical data collection in support of our medical and psychiatric team. CCBHC & CLINICAL NURSING DUTIES
Wellness Screenings & Vitals (CCBHC Requirements)
- Conduct routine health screenings including height, weight, BMI, and blood pressure
- Monitor and document vital signs for all assigned clients in compliance with CCBHC standards
- Assist with coordination and collection of labs, including blood draws and specimen handling as applicable
- Track and follow up on abnormal vitals or lab results in coordination with the RN, NP, or physician
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all screening results in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
Medication Management
- Administer medications to the correct client at the correct time and dose via the correct route, documenting in the electronic medication administration record (eMAR)
- Manage storage of both stock medications and client-specific medications; report refills needed and low stock to the NP and/or supervisor
- Document client mental health symptoms and substance use as part of ongoing medication monitoring
- Assist RN, MD, and/or NP in collecting medical history and clinical information
General Clinical & Patient Care
- Deliver evidence-based nursing care to clients diagnosed with substance use disorders and co-occurring psychiatric and medical conditions
- Provide safe, compassionate care with a recovery-oriented, trauma-informed approach
- Assist in identifying and prioritizing client needs to maintain a safe, therapeutic environment
- Monitor for signs and symptoms of substance intoxication, withdrawal, and psychiatric decompensation; notify appropriate clinical staff
- Perform First Aid, CPR, and AED as needed
- Document client admission information in the EHR as required
- Build trusting, professional relationships with clients across all socioeconomic backgrounds
Teamwork & Professionalism
- Participate in peer review, record review, staff meetings, and in-service training as assigned
- Assist with preceptor duties for new staff and trainees related to organizational processes and policies
- Adhere to Anuvia policies and procedures, CARF standards, and the North Carolina Nurse Practice Act
- Respond professionally to client and staff questions; refer to appropriate personnel and follow up as needed
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with federal and state regulations (HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2)
REQUIREMENTS
Education & Licensure
- Completion of an approved Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program
- Active LPN license in North Carolina (or Multi-State Compact license) in good standing
- Valid NC or SC Driver's License required
- Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification
Experience
- Minimum two (2) years of nursing experience required; experience in behavioral health, substance use treatment, or a related setting strongly preferred
- Familiarity with CCBHC service standards and integrated care models a plus
- Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) documentation required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong clinical knowledge of medication administration, nursing best practices, and documentation standards
- Understanding of substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health conditions, and recovery principles
- Knowledge of confidentiality laws including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and EHR systems
- Excellent communication skills — verbal, written, and interpersonal
- Ability to de-escalate, maintain composure, and work effectively under pressure
- Cultural competence and sensitivity to clients from diverse backgrounds
- Strong time management, organization, and critical thinking skills

Schedule Note: This position is hourly with a non-paid 30-minute lunch break. The employee may be required to work weekends and/or alternate shifts based on facility needs. Specific shift details will be confirmed during the interview process.
