What are the responsibilities and job description for the Line Cook position at Antoon Hospitality Group?

General Summary

The Line Cook is responsible for preparing food as per our standard recipes, cleaning food, cooking meals, and keeping a sanitized work area and will utilize a variety of grills, fryers, ovens, and other prep areas.  The candidate for this position must be committed to impeccable preparation, which is important for satisfying our guests and creating repeat business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare basic food items of the Outlaw’s BBQ menu using our proven recipes.
  • Understand and utilize Outlaw’s BBQ serving portion sizes and basic meal prep procedures used in the kitchen.
  • Ensure that the assigned work area, food prep areas, and food storage areas meet restaurant cleaning standards.
  • Work within a team to perform portion prep work for other shifts when needed.
  • Monitor product freshness and ensure rotation of old product based on schedules set by management.
  • Assist kitchen team members as needed.

  • Ability to anticipate needs of others in the kitchen and proactively work to meet those needs.
  • Able to work variable shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Friendly and positive attitude with great communication and listening skills.
  • Attend shifts according to schedule and in proper uniform.
  • Treats all team members and guests with respect, dignity, integrity, and sensitivity.
  • Provides a safe working environment by complying with safety rules and reporting potential hazards.

Physical Demands of the Job

  • Be able to reach, bend, squat, stoop, shake, carry, push and lift items throughout the shift.
  • Regularly lifts up to 25 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds for product preparation, stocking, and inventory.
  • Adapt to frequent exposure to smoke, steam, high temperatures, humidity, and extreme cold.
  • Good hearing for accurate communication.
  • Occasionally climbs ladders and uses a step stool.
  • Consistently kneels to utilize proper lifting procedures.
  • Consistently lifts for product preparation, stocking, and inventory.
  • Consistently pushes to open and close door to store and storage shed and office as well as cooler and freezers.
  • Requires the ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with customers.
  • Frequently stoops to pick up supplies and trash.
  • Ability to work standing for 8 hours or more per day.
  • Consistently sees during all activities.

Education and Experience

  • Experience in a limited service restaurant is preferred.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is desired, but not required.
  • Food Safety Manager Certification preferred.
