What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineering Manager position at Anton Cabinetry?
Anton Cabinetry is looking for a strong, decisive Engineering Manager to lead the transformation of our engineering and design team. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives on bringing structure, consistency, and accountability to a fast-paced commercial millwork operation.
If you are energized by fixing broken workflows, standardizing processes, elevating teams, and restoring healthy collaboration between Engineering and Production — this is the role where you will make a visible impact every single day.
We are a $30M architectural millwork firm with 50 years of history and a growing pipeline of healthcare and commercial projects. The relationship between Engineering and Production is the heartbeat of our operation. This position is central to strengthening that bridge.
What You’ll Lead
1. Standardize and elevate engineering output
We need a leader who can:
Establish consistent drawing standards for both shop drawings and production drawings
Align the team around one way of doing things
Improve accuracy and reduce variation across engineers
Strengthen internal review processes
Ensure predictable, high-quality release packages to the shop
2. Coach, develop, and hold engineers accountable
You will lead a team of:
Project Design Managers, Engineers / Designers, and Outsourced drafters
Your leadership will:
Raise expectations, build discipline, drive training consistency, and create a culture of ownership and follow-through.
3. Rebuild the rhythm between Engineering & Production
This role is the bridge between upstream engineering work and downstream shop flow.
You will:
Work closely with the Director of Production
Improve predictability of releases
Reduce rework and late surprises
Establish a dependable weekly schedule
Bring clarity, communication, and stability to the process
4. Lead by presence — not from behind a screen
This is an onsite leadership role.
The shop, PMs, and engineering team need a leader who is:
Visible, engaged, accessible, and in the mix with people and processes.
A limited hybrid day for systems work is possible, but this role is fundamentally in-person.
This role is designed for a leader who has successfully improved engineering teams before, someone who thrives in environments that need structure and momentum.
Required Qualifications:
7–15 years of commercial millwork, casework, or store fixture engineering experience
Strong command of shop drawings, production drawings, CNC workflows, and millwork standards
Enough technical depth to guide and review work, without being a “heads down” drafter
A steady, accountable, results-driven leadership presence
The confidence and communication style to reset expectations and bring people together
Experience building processes, not just following them
2–5 years managing or leading engineering teams
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience overseeing hybrid design teams (internal, outsourced, varying experience levels)
Working knowledge of CNC post-processors, BOM systems, or software automation
Familiarity with AWI standards and QCP testing protocols
Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Engineering, Construction Science, or related field
Experience implementing new CAD tools, standards, or systems
Salary : $30
