Duties
- Oversee the daily operations of the fleet, including vehicle scheduling, routing, and dispatching to ensure timely delivery and pickup.
- Implement and monitor fleet maintenance programs to maximize vehicle uptime and safety compliance.
- Coordinate with procurement teams to manage vehicle sourcing, purchasing, and disposal in line with budgetary goals.
- Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software to track fleet performance, analyze data, and optimize routes.
- Ensure adherence to transportation safety regulations, regulatory compliance standards, and industry best practices.
- Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers (3PL), freight carriers, and NVOCC (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier) partners for shipping logistics and freight forwarding.
- Lead a team of drivers and logistics staff, fostering a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Experience
- Proven experience in fleet management within a logistics or transportation environment, with strong knowledge of road transportation operations.
- Demonstrated expertise in supply chain management, inventory control, warehouse distribution, and materials handling.
- Proficiency with transportation management systems (TMS), warehouse management systems (WMS), CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System), and ERP platforms such as AS400 or similar.
- Strong understanding of international trade regulations, shipping & receiving procedures, packaging standards, and materials sourcing.
- Excellent data analysis skills with the ability to utilize supply chain analytics for process improvement initiatives.
- Experience managing large teams in logistics or warehouse settings with a focus on safety regulations and operational excellence.
- Technical proficiency in forklift operation certification preferred; familiarity with NVOCC operations is a plus.
