Job Summary:
As a Junior Accountant, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and assisting in financial reporting. You will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of the resort's financial activities and supporting decision-making processes.
Responsibilities:
- Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process invoices, track payments, and manage accounts payable and receivable. Ensure timely and accurate payments to vendors and collection of receivables from guests.
- General Ledger Maintenance: Maintain the resort's general ledger by recording daily transactions, including revenue, expenses, and adjustments. Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts regularly.
- Budget Tracking: Assist in monitoring departmental budgets and tracking expenses against budgeted amounts. Identify variances and communicate with department managers to address discrepancies.
- Inventory Management: Maintain inventory records and reconcile inventory counts with physical inventory on hand. Assist in optimizing inventory levels and minimizing waste.
- Banking and Cash Management: Manage cash flow by preparing bank deposits, monitoring cash balances, and initiating transfers as needed. Ensure compliance with internal controls and banking procedures.
- Financial Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting principles, financial regulations, and internal policies. Assist with internal and external audits as required.
- Software Utilization: Utilize accounting software and other financial tools effectively to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field is preferred.
- Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles, preferably in the hospitality industry.
- Knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards.
- Experience with accounting systems and MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions:
This position typically operates in an office environment within the resort, with regular interactions with other departments and external stakeholders. Some flexibility in working hours may be required during peak seasons or for special projects.
