Job Description:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for a detail-oriented Assistant Controller to perform and coordinate accounting duties within our organization. The Assistant Controller’s responsibilities include preparing financial reports, performing account
reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, assisting with audit preparations, and performing other accounting duties as assigned and should have a solid working knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Duties include:
- Performs general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization.
- Prepares financial analysis and reports
- Prepares monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
- Maintains the general ledger.
- Assists Controller in leading Financial close
- Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, and reconciles major accounts
- Reviews and approves journal entries
- Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
- Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts;
manages accounts receivable collections.
- Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures
payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
- Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
- Prepares tax forms for state and local government agencies.
· Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures · Performs other related duties as assigned by Controller.
Ideal candidates will:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification seeking or obtained
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or another related field
- Have at least 3-10 years of accounting experience
- Ability to review workpapers prepared by junior staff
- Ability to work independently
- Contributes to the team effort by accomplishing results as needed
- Have strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Be proficient in word processing and spreadsheet software
- Have excellent oral and written communication skills
- Be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Demonstrate ability to lead a team
- Excellent attention to detail
- Be willing to continuously strive to further knowledge and experience
- Be well-organized
