Position Concept and Summary
Oversee internal and external communications for the organization including creating and distributing newsletters, event materials, brochures, graphics, and other marketing assets, ensuring all content aligns with the Council’s and Scouting America brand standards. This role includes managing and developing content for the Council’s website and social media accounts to maintain timely and engaging communication with various audiences. Collaborating closely with the volunteer Executive Board Vice President of Marketing as well as the staff members including the Field Director, Development Director and Director of Properties, Camping and Restoration. The Marketing & Communications Manager will ensure that all marketing and communication initiatives support the Council’s strategic goals.
Responsible for developing and executing project plans to achieve organizational goals and assist with the Council’s crisis communication plan. As well as analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and the competitive landscape to inform strategic decision-making.
Leadership responsibilities include driving recruitment and retention of youth and adults, managing and protecting the brand, overseeing crisis communication strategies, conducting data analysis project, ensure efforts align with the Council’s strategic objectives.
Principal Responsibilities
* Oversee the creation and distribution of all internal and external marketing and communication needs; including newsletters, event materials, brochures, graphics and other marketing assets.
* Develop and manage content for Council’s website and social media accounts.
* Closely collaborate with the Scout Executive and Executive Board Vice President of Marketing to ensure initiatives are in alignment with Council brand standards and marketing strategies.
* Assist the Development Team in planning, and promoting Council fundraising events.
* Secure positive coverage of Scouting stories in Northeast Indiana media. Prepare and distribute press releases for council activities and to recognize volunteer achievements. Provide on-site assistance to reporters, other media representatives and council staff.
* Support the Council’s communication strategy by posting timely updates, monitoring engagement and sentiment, and promptly responding to inquiries and comments.
* Track and provide regular metrics on engagement with social media content, and work with Scouting constituents to provide instructions and tools to capture metrics/create content on the sites they run.
* Assist the Scout Executive with execution of the Council’s crisis communication plan.
* Coordinate with contracted marketing support vendors as appropriate.
* Regular and predictable attendance is a requirement of the job.
* Perform other duties as assigned by the Scout Executive.
