Retail and Event Florist - Lead Designer

Responsibilities

• Lead the floral department by creating innovative and eye-catching floral designs for retail sales and various events (weddings, corporate events, etc).
• Manage daily design standards, including flower purchasing, arranging displays, and ensuring product freshness.
• Provide outstanding customer service by assisting clients with plant selection, floral design advice, and special requests.
• Oversee inventory management, including stock replenishment, plant identification, and merchandising to maximize sales potential.
• Train and supervise staff on floral techniques and quality standards
• Along with the owner and store manager, assist with hiring new designers as needed.

Requirements

• A minimum of 7* years of proven, full-time* experience in retail and/or event floral design with a strong portfolio demonstrating creativity and technical skill in floral arrangements.
• Experience buying flowers and plants (in person) from the LA Wholesale Market.
• Prior experience managing employees and the ability to communicate clearly with them.
• Knowledge of some horticulture principles, including plant care and best practices when processing and handling various fresh flowers.
• Excellent communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse customers.
• Experience preparing floral event quotes is a plus.
• Strong organizational skills to manage inventory, merchandising displays, and stock levels efficiently.
• Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining high standards of customer service and teamwork.
• The flexibility and willingness to work OT as needed (for example, Valentine's Day week, Mother's Day week, etc)

Pay: $58,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year
