Actuarial Analyst III/Associate Actuary (Job Family)
This position can be filled at the Actuarial Analyst III or Associate Actuary. The Hiring Manager will determine the level, based on the candidate’s experience and background.

The Actuarial Analyst III/Associate Actuary completes the most diverse and complicated projects and performs highly complex actuarial studies. Position will primarily focus on interpreting data, connecting Cost of Care impacts to normalized trend models, analyzing data, reporting cost of care results to business partners, and formulating recommendations.
How You Will Make an Impact:
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Serves as a state lead for the IFTPM (Integrated Financial Trend Projection Model) process.
- Develops detailed Plan targets by type of service, including both trend and cost/utilization metrics.
- Updates trend projections periodically, to support pricing trend development and the corporate business plan.
- Performs monthly variance analysis (MVA), to compare developing experience vs. Plan targets.
- Analyzes data and summarizes performance using summary statistical procedures.
- Provides analytic consultation to other business areas, leadership or external customers.
- Participates in Anthem’s Actuarial Development Program (ADP).
- Assists in training of actuarial trainees, analysts and specialists.
- Coordinates/directs special actuarial projects.
Qualifications
Actuarial Analyst III Minimum Requirements:
Requires a BA/BS and to have passed a minimum of four Society of Actuaries (SOA) actuarial exams and a minimum of 3 years related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
Associate Actuary Minimum Requirements:
- Requires a BA/BS degree and minimum of 4 years related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
- ASA required from the Society of Actuaries (SOA).
